How to Volunteer with the Death Ride®

Get behind the scenes views of all the work that goes into making this event a success. Volunteers provide support along the course, and the days prior to/after. Many riders and non-riders support the ride by volunteering. This army, The Skeleton Squad, is what makes the ride so successful. We can’t do it without you!

Warehouse

Key duties include inventory of all food order delivery and course delivery. The Warehouse is the epicenter of deliveries and supplies for the course. Detail oriented and multi-task people needed. Heavy lifting required. Must have a valid drivers license and be comfortable with driving a large truck. Please wear proper clothing. Closed toed shoes are required. No flip-flops.

Retailer workers for the race

Retail Store

Key duties include setting up the store, credit card handling, customer service, inventory of items, display set up and selling general or specialty merchandise. Some heavy lifting may be required. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to scheduled shift for orientation and re-stocking. Please wear proper clothing. Closed toed shoes are required. No flip-flops.

Bib Checkers

Key duties include verifying every rider has a bib number attached on their person, safety, and controlling the flow of bike traffic. Set up and breakdown of cones and signs that direct the flow of traffic at intersections along with verbal direction. Wear layers, bring snacks and water. Closed toed shoes are required. No flip-flops.  Must arrive before 5:00 am.

Aid Stations

Key duties include setting up area, issuing one sticker per rider, snack preparation, and breaking down along with cleaning the area after the riders are done. Friendly interaction and encouragement to the riders is also essential. Camping overnight is recommended at some stops. Please wear proper clothing. Closed toed shoes are required. No flip-flops.

Bag/Clothing Drop Volunteer

Key duties include picking up left behind cinch bags. Monitoring bag drop, and issuing bags to cyclists who have finished the ride. Wear layers as morning is usually cold! Closed toed shoes are required.

Friday Night Food Prep

In the wee hours of the morning between Friday and Saturday volunteers roast the delicious seasoned potatoes that our riders enjoy for breakfast on top of Monitor Pass. One or two people are needed to roast and package the seasoned potatoes around midnight and make sure they get to the Top of Monitor before the roads close.
